DEPARTMENT 400 – FFA MECHANICS
Superintendent: Darrell Steege (540) 941-8978
RULES and REGULATIONS
Exhibits will be received August 9, 2011, 8:00am – 11:00am. Judging will be until 5:00pm August 9, 2011.
All entries should be made in the name of the CHAPTER on the General Entry Form. Please review the fair’s General Rules that apply to your department.
Articles exhibited must have been constructed by FFA members either as a part of their agricultural mechanics instruction in agricultural education or as part of their supervised agricultural experience program.
Entries will be judged on the bases of workmanship, finish, design, strength and usefulness.
An article can be shown only once at the fair, but does not have to be constructed during the year it is exhibited.
All articles must be painted or properly preserved. In the case of use projects, they must be clean and in presentable condition.
Chapters are limited to four projects they can exhibit in each class. Miscellaneous classes are limited to four projects of the same item. There is no limit on the number of items in the miscellaneous classes. The entries may be individually owned or chapter owned.
The points assigned to projects are based upon the amount and difficulty of the work involved, difficulty and cost of moving, and the cost of materials. The points given below are for average projects of the kind listed. Judges may adjust the points up or down as necessary when a project is unusual in size or difficult and it appears necessary to adequately compensate for exhibiting an outstanding project.
It is recommended that plans be displayed with projects.
Exhibits will be judged and displayed in the Beam building
Exhibits can be picked up Sat. Aug. 13, 2011 between 9:00pm – 10:30pm, or Sunday Aug. 14, between 9:00am – 12:00pm.
