Augusta County 4-H/FFA Market Goat Show and Sale

Schedule:

     Nomination – Sat. June 14, 2011 from 8:00am – 9:00 am, Augusta County            Government Center

     Entries in place and weigh-in – Thursday Aug 11, 2011 from 3:00pm–  6:00pm

     Market goat show – Friday August 12, 2011 immediately following Open and           Youth Goat Show

     Market Goat Sale: Saturday August 13, 2011 at 6:00pm  

      Release time is immediately following the sale

Rules and Regulations:

1. The most recent version of the 4-H/FFA Market Animal Show & Sale Rules and Regulations regarding expectations and conduct for exhibitors will be adhered to during this event. 

2. Exhibitors must be bona fide Augusta County 4-H/FFA members between the ages of 9 – 19 by September 30, 2011

3. Exhibitors may nominate three (3) market goats for entry at weigh-in.

4. Exhibitors may enter up to two (2) market goats at the market goat show and sale.

5. Whether goats must be castrated and healed.  No buck lambs.

6. Market goats entering the competition must be born after August 1, 2010.

7. Exhibitors must provide a record book to accompany the goats.  Record books will be distributed at nomination and are to be returned to the Extension Office for evaluation by Monday August 29, 2011.

8. Goats must have an approved ear tag for entry.  Does must have a scrapie tag.

9. Market goats must be sold at the sale on Saturday August 13, 2011.

10. Sale of market goats will be done by live auction.  Sale is open to all interested parties.  Buyers must arrange for transporting of market goats to leave Augusta County Fair by 8:00pm Saturday August 13, 2011

11. No private treaty sales of market goats will be allowed on the premises during the Augusta County Fair.

12. ENTRY FEES: $5.00 per head in the show and sale.

13. Market goats will be exhibited and sold by weight.  Whethers and does will be exhibited in the same classes by weight.  No distinction of sex will be considered when selecting show

placing.

Market goats to be exhibited and sold will weigh between 80 – 130 pounds at the time of the Augusta County Fair.

Winners will be recognized by Class and selection of Grand & reserve Champion Market Goat and Showmanship.
